Contact Lens Clinic

About the speciality

Contact lenses are thin, curved pieces of plastic that fit over the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye. They are worn to improve vision, correct refractive errors, or for cosmetic reasons.

Contact lenses can be used to correct a variety of refractive errors, including myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. They can also be used to treat a variety of eye conditions, such as presbyopia (age-related farsightedness) and keratoconus (a condition that causes the cornea to bulge).

Keratoconus (KC)

Keratoconus is a condition characterised by thinning of the cornea, leading to distortion and decreased vision.

Pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD)

It is a condition characterised by thinning of the lower cornea and irregularity of its optic surface, resulting in blurry vision.
This irregularity can stem from various causes such as ocular injury, disease, infection, or surgery, including corneal transplant or radial keratotomy surgeries, as well as corneal scarring from injury or disease.
These factors contribute to visual distortions and poor vision. Fortunately, specialised lenses can effectively manage these conditions.
